Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

There has been SO much going on in our world here lately, and undoubtedly in our personal lives as well, that have affected us permanently. There have been times of sorrow and tragedy where we seem to feel the earth pause and tremble from the impact of the event, or maybe simply from the way it has stirred us in our own ways, and there have been moments of raw clarity where we have witnessed awakened humanity and a breathtaking kindness we sometimes forget that the human race possesses.
When is it that we remember God the most?
It's easy to turn to Him or accuse when we are hurting or afraid; when it seems as if our storms will surely bring us down. We cry out in anger and frustration, in fear and anguish, when a hopelessness overtakes our hearts and a darkness settles in and clouds our faith...
We go to our good God when we need something of Him like a reflex and we don't always react as quickly when we're kind of making it okay on our own.
Why are we so swift to turn to The Father when we need something?
When did we forget that all we really need, is just Him?
How great He is! Not just for all He can do, not just for all that He does, not just for all He will do, and not just for all He is doing.... He is great simply because of who He is.
Consider this.
Can you honestly think of someone in your life that can forgive the worst thing you have EVER done and welcome you back with open arms and call you theirs?
Can you think of a person who will never leave you or let you down?
Can you recall anyone ever loving you and waiting for you despite how ever many times you have forgotten about them or chose something else over them?
Could you, yourself, do any of these things for someone without one bit of hesitation or a single thought of the fact that it would most likely happen again?

You can't, we can't, because we're human.
We get hurt, disappointed, angry; our moods swing and change thanks to what the world hands us on a day to day basis. It isn't our faults, this is our nature.
As Christians, we do our best to love and show TRUE kindness and forgive and give grace to others when grace is needed, but no one is perfect and that type of behavior doesn't always shine forth like we might hope that it would.
But, you see, God CAN do all these things.
Here's another one for you...
Can you think of someone who would knowingly send their Son into a world of hate and sin to grow up in poverty to teach and speak love and everlasting life to multitudes of people, people who would one day accuse, mock, whip, beat, strip, torture, exhaust, nail, crucify, and kill him, only because they knew that it was the only way they could save you?
Jesus was a humble, kind man, who was quick to listen and slow to speak. Nothing in this world mattered to Him except for us. His love was [is] endless, as was [is] His patience. Imagine a perfect being, imagine His grace; He spoke of a home with His Father where we are all welcomed and loved and He simply asked us to return that love in the lives we live.
And yet, they killed Him for that.
Still thinking?
Save yourself a headache if you are; no one is that great. No one can match our great God.
How great He is.
Why is He called on the most when we need something? When the world is falling apart or our lives are being broken. If we remember this greatness of His, how incomprehensibly amazing He is, how incredibly wonderful, we might remember more that He is what we really need.
He can do all these things and more, and with the strength He give us, we can do all things through Him. (Philippians 4:13)
Lets remember that He is not only here in the hard times when we seek Him to come and take away all of our worries and heartache; He is here through the good times too.
He smiles on His children, He calls us His, He blesses us daily, endlessly.
How great He is.
